A new study published lately in the journal Neurology by a team of researchers at the National MS Society has unveiled that Botox, a drug mainly prescribed for smoothing aging skin, may prove helpful for sufferers of multiple sclerosis.

The findings are being announced by the team after a survey that showed positive effects of the drug on those who get tremors as the disease’s outcome.

Though, Botox is known for helping elderly making their skin smoother. It blocks nerve signals, thereby providing comfort to the muscles under the skin. It has some other medical benefits as well, says the report, including relief from excessive sweating, chronic migraine and muscles spasms in the arms.

It also has a healing effect on overactive bladder-like symptom of MS, which likely affects a total of two-thirds of the total population.

The study with the enrolment of almost 23 patients has shown that Botox injections helped them to feel ease in their tremors. Also, they could write easily as compared to their condition before the trial. And since each way such as exercise, surgery and other physical therapies have failed to treat MS, thus it is good to have the promising Botulinum toxin type A drug.
