New Japanese Procedure for Organ Seekers

New Japanese Procedure for Organ Seekers

While it is becoming difficult for doctors and surgeons to tackle with the ongoing problem of shortage in organ donors, a new technique is being said to be promising enough for patients in seek of an organ, as per a recent report.

A boy, who has lately received the operation that solves the problem of shortage, occurring due to unmatched organs of donors and recipients, has discussed about the technique.

David Hurst, who is being a part of the National Transplant Week commencing on Monday, had a word with Charli Wheeler, 24, from Orpington. He has heard that the boy’s rare Vater Syndrome was treated with the help of a blood-washing operation.

It has been found that the boy had spent almost two years at a hospital waiting for a successful transplant. Since, both of his kidneys were not in proper working condition.

Charli had undergone a total of 40 operations, all of which failed. Also, he had received a transplant in April 2009, following lots of drugs. It has been found that the procedure was unlike previous ones. It involved washing the blood so as to remove those antibodies causing rejection of an organ.

The new Japanese system has raised a hope to transfer organs between people even with different blood groups, the report says.
