Another Question Mark to the Actual Appearance of Dinosaurs

In last few years, certain indications were noticed stating that while developing into birds, the dinosaurs actually gained feathers. But in a recent study by the American Museum of natural History (AMNH), this percept has been denied. According to their findings, a feathered dinosaur is another breed of them and in their era, they were quite ubiquitous too. To no extent, they can ever be related to birds.

As reported by national Geographic on Monday, few years back, the fossil of a 150-million-year-old dinosaur was found in a Bavarian limestone quarry dubbed Sciurumimus albersdoerferi. It seemed like a baby megalosaur, which refers to a group of large, two-legged, meat-eating dinosaurs. This baby Sciurumimus fossil had the remains of a filamentous plumage over its body that simply proves that his whole body was covered with feathers.

Similar to the tree squirrels, this Sciurimimus albersdoerferi also features a bushy tail. In fact, this was one of the reasons for giving the creature his name. In Latin, "Sciurus" means "squirrel-mimic" and "alberdsdoerferi" refers to those private collectors who released the sampling for scientific study.

Apart from its feathers, the fossil stands out for much more. It is for the first time that such a complete voracious dinosaur has been found in Europe.
