Health ministry in the region is taking its best steps to improve the conditions of GP services in Wales. In context to the same, some new plans have been recently introduced by Welsh Health Minister Ms. Lesley Griffiths, who said that the new unveiled plans will help in improving access to GP surgeries across Wales.

The minister has talked in her statement about a new three phase approach for the scheme, which she said will make things easier and process go smoothly for working people to get their appointments from their GPs.

The first phase allows provision of a big number of appointments between 5pm and 6.30pm, the second phase will help providing all those people with appointment after 6.30pm, who could not attend in the day and the third phase will serve and arrange the entire planned weekend appointments.

Explaining her new planning, Mrs. Griffiths said: “Improving access to GP surgeries is a top five Programme for Government commitment”.

Health Minister Mrs. Lesley Griffiths added in her explanations that the Welsh government focuses to open practices outside working hours and at weekends too to serve people with better services.

But the same is not the thinking of the British Medical Association (BMA) as they say that the plans will force GPs to work on Saturday mornings and these steps can have a severe affect on the recruitment toll.
