People living in Edinburgh need not be afraid anymore of Legionnaires’ disease as now new case of it has been reported. Last Tuesday, third case of Legionnaires’ disease was reported. However, till now no new case of it has been reported.
The health authorities are at ease now as the government has confirmed that the cases of Legionnaires’ disease are falling down. On Thursday, a report showed that only 50 cases of Legionnaires’ disease have been confirmed till now.
Out of 50 cases about two cases are serious and are admitted in the intensive care unit. Other Legionnaires’ disease cases are admitted in the general ward. The health authorities are still investigating over the cause of outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease.
The Health Secretary, Nicola Sturgeon, said, “…NHS Lothian are maintaining high-quality care for patients who remain unwell and work to identify and deal with the source of the outbreak continues”. At the same time, the Scottish Government has confirmed the death of a patient affected with Legionnaires’ disease. It is hoped that the government together with health workers would be able to cope up with the outbreak ensuring good health of people.
