In order to bring a decline in the incidences of musculoskeletal injuries, the Workplace Victoria has decided to launch a campaign. The campaign will run for a year and will be initialed by the New South Wales Government.

It is not the first time when such campaigns have been launched by the NSW Government, as in 2005 also the government launched a campaign to reduce the incidences of musculoskeletal injuries.

Experts were of the view that musculoskeletal, itself is a bread term, which has many physical ailments lined under it. Some of the problems that have been categorized under it are fractures, strained muscles as well as sprains.

The injury happens at the time when one moves his muscles to more than needed degree. Good news is that the nation has been able to bring a decline in the number of musculoskeletal injuries. To specify then there has been
25% drop in 2009-10.

Gordon Rich-Phillips, who is the Assistant Treasurer at WorkSafe Victoria, said, “Manual task injuries, musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) from performing manual tasks, consistently account for approximately one third of all injuries occurring in Western Australian mining workplaces”. It is needed that employers should make sure that their employees do not suffer such injuries.
