There are mainly five reasons for which one uses Facebook, reveals a study being published in the Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media. The dive reasons for which one uses Facebook are to know what is happening in others lives, to seek information, to pour out heart, away to pass the time and a source of entertainment.

The study researchers were of the view that they conducted study to assess the efficacy of gratification theory. The gratification theory suggests that one uses different types of media to satisfy certain type of needs.

Lead author Neil Postman was of the view, "[M]ost of our daily news is inert, consisting of information that gives us something to talk about but cannot lead to any meaningful action”.

He further wrote in his book "Amusing Ourselves to Death” that through people thinks that though social media is increasing knowledge, experts do not agree with the same. Experts think that social media will ruin the knowledge base of youngsters.

However, such will not be the case, said other group of experts, who were of the view that digital behavior will affect the society, but it is expected that it will be the betterment for people and especially for youngsters.
