Recent reports suggest that hundreds of people have declared to take a legal action against the federal government due to its action; it took during the outbreak of equine flu in 2007. It has been revealed that due to the outbreak, many horse industries in Australia were demolished.
It has been reported that yesterday Law firm Maurice Blackburn clarified in a statement that it would be filing a law suit in the Federal Court in NSW in the coming months.
Prosecutor notified that the government did not play its role with responsibility during the outbreak. It failed to bring into action several preventive measures, which would have ultimately helped save many horse lives.
The prosecutor said, “The government failed to implement quarantine and biosecurity measures that would have prevented the disease from infecting horses in Australia”.
Moreover, it has been administered that Heath Ryan, former Olympian horse rider, would even be supporting the law firm. He exclaimed that the outbreak had an adverse effect upon his own life.
Mr. Ryan highlighted that due to the outbreak many horses lost their lives, horse industries were critically affected and so was their income.
Nevertheless, he stated that he believes that apart from professionals, the outbreak also ruined hopes of enthusiasts, who wished to represent the country overseas.
