The NASA has spent about $2.5 billion in the mission. The rover will remain at the Martian equator for two years to know more about Mars. Till now, they have clicked more than 817 photos of the surface of Mars and photos seem to be telling a different picture of the planet.

“The view provides rich geologic context for the detailed chemical and mineral work that the team did at Greeley Haven over the rover’s fifth Martian winter”, said Jim Bell from NASA.

Some of the photos also dictate about the portions of the rover and the places where it was stationed. It has been further revealed that NASA’s next mission known as Curiosity rover, whom set off to its mission on November 26, 2011 will soon reach at Mars on August 6, 2012.
