Apple has been facing controversies by Chinese chemical company Jiangsu Xuebao over trademark for its new Snow Leopard operating system (OS) launched back in 2009, a recent report has revealed.
It is being said by the Chinese company that the company has tried to breach the Xuebao’s trademark filed in 2000. Xuebao also claims that Apple has done the same even after a full knowledge regarding the same.
It has been found that Apple was previously also facing a lawsuit filed by Proview Technology. And the dispute had been recently settled by the firm by paying US$60 million for the iPad trademark.
Xuebao is a manufacturing firm of daily commodity products, including shoe polish, toothpaste and varied other things. It owns a total of 42 Snow Leopard’s registered trademarks since 1994 for varied classes of products, the report finds.
The company says that Apple was though clearly rejected by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce’s trademark office in 2008. It had applied for the same in China and released the product with it.
Thus, many cases have been filed against all those companies selling Snow Leopard operating system. As per the findings, Xuebao’s wants Apple to apologize. The hearing is to begin on Jul. 10.
