Due to a sudden decision taken up by Cisco to upgrade its Wi-Fi routers’ software, so as to manage its services using a cloud service over internet, the company had to face a repercussion by the customers.

Under their newly introduced plan, the software embedded on the memory chip of the home routers, the EA4500 and the EA2700 were linked to ‘Cisco Connect Cloud’. However, as a consequence, the management taking care of the cloud-based Wi-Fi router raised a number of complaints lodged by the consumers.

The concerns raised over the plan included, grants made by Cisco for obtaining personal data after the upgrading of the embedded software. Other concerns included a few clauses set as disturbing. Hence, a majority of the consumers raised questions.

Some customers said, “The updated terms of service not only barred them from online use aimed at obscene, pornographic, or offensive purposes, but also potentially monitored what they were up to online”.

It has been recovered that for the past one week, the company has been trying best to suppress the concerns. However, it has been administered that the efforts made by the company are not enough.

However, recently Cisco's home VP Brett Wingo blogged that the Connect Cloud will not be anymore used as default management system.
