It seems that West Nile virus was too eager to hit Michigan as it is reported to have made its presence felt there a bit early. It is believed that prolonged heat has made things a lot difficult for humans, though mosquitoes are having a good life in such conditions.

As soon as mosquitoes get the virus from an infected bird, they transfer it to humans, thereby risking the life of humans. There is need for people to be extra careful as far as hygiene is concerned, and most importantly, they must not let water stand still anywhere in open as it will turn into breeding ground of mosquitoes. "If you have one neglected swimming pool in the neighborhood, we know it produces mosquitoes by the millions”, said Ned Walker, Professor of microbiology and entomology.

With reports confirming its presence in Saginaw County and in a wild turkey in Washtenaw County, concerned health authorities have come into action and have instructed them to take all possible measures to avoid mosquito bites.

It was in last year that two Michigan deaths were reported due to the same and that’s what makes it all the more required that steps are being taken beforehand so that no one gets affected this time.
