The famous Cancer Research UK fundraising event, Race for Life, since last 18 years, is open only for women. Males cannot be a part of this genuine affair. To this lot of men who have been affected by cancer in some or the other ways have raised their voice. Among them, a National Academy sixth former, whose mother was diagnosed with this lethal illness, last year, is also against this ruling.

16 year-old Daniel Beeston has challenged the organizers for opening the event up to all genders. He has put forward a request to change the rules. He says “My mum, who was diagnosed with cancer last year, entered the race and I decided to do it with her but then I found out I couldn’t and neither could my dad”.

This fundraising event instead of being an only-women event; should be a family fundraising event, because when one person gets affected by cancer; his entire family suffers. Therefore whether it is a male or a female; everyone has a right to contribute towards this research.

Originally, when this event was discovered, it was aimed to raise money for female cancers only but now it aims to raise funds for Cancer UK Research which finds cure for all cancers.

The more people will be welcomed to take part in this event, the more money would be raised and this would benefit the research in a much better way.
