Usage Of Same Vial Makes Patients Ill

It has been recently revealed in a Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report being prepared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that clinics are risking the health of people. They have been injecting them from same vials that are meant to be used for one patient.

The habit has led 10 people to suffer from infection in Arizona and Delaware. In addition, a patient was found to be dead at his place and investigations revealed that he was being injected with the same vial, which has been used for other patients.

In 2011 also, same thing happened, as one person in authority at a clinic in Delaware, infected nine patients. The CDC has raised concerns on the same and has revealed that till now, 20 such cases have been registered since
2007.

“This report reminds health-care providers of the serious consequences of multipatient use of single-dose vials that can occur even when health-care workers believe they are being careful”, read the CDC report.

There are ways by which patients can protect themselves. Some of the ways are always ask doctor and nurse that whether or not, he has washed his hands properly. He should also ensure that the syringe is sterilized.
