Burger King Brings Back Food Colors

In its recent statement, Food Standards Agency (FSA) has declared that fast-food chain Burger King has reintroduced food colors. These food colors have been linked with hyperactivity in children.

It has been reported that Burger King has been using these food colors in fizzy drinks as a part of a six-month trial introduced by Coca-Cola. These colors have been added to Freestyle drinks dispensing system, due to which the consumers can pick their choice of colored drink.

Earlier, Burger king was categorized under the category of caterers and restaurants, whose food was free from colors and additives. However, after it started off with the trial, FSA has removed the fast food chain’s name from the list.

On the other hand, Coca-Cola said, “The presence of the so-called Southampton colors, named after the study which identified the behavioral link, were well below the “legally required acceptable daily intake”.

However, Burger King facing the trouble declared that it will be removing the additives and colors from the products. However, the Food Standards Agency has claimed that the food-chain has not abided by its own decision and is again pursuing its joint-venture with Coca-Cola. The burger chain is still using the dispensing system in some of its outlets.
