Requests for Introducing Health Warnings on Alcoholic Drinks

Doctors in the UK have been insisting to put graphic health warnings on alcohol packaging, concerning the huge health hazards being caused due to lack of awareness amongst the population, as per a recent report.

It is being said that health warnings on bottles of alcohol or beer would make people think at least once before buying these. Till date, most of the people only have a limited thinking that drinking can create a mess at occasions or societal areas.

However, alcohol is alone a cause of almost 60 deadly illnesses, including liver disease, different cancers, strokes or heart issues. People’s ignorance but makes them to consume the same because of availability of these without any such facts.

A report by the UK Faculty of Public Health (FPH) has also asserted that only the display of warnings at drinking places is of no use. The industry should rather particularly consider display of arresting images on each and every bottle.

The group suggests that a picture showing alcohol-related cirrhosis liver or a bottle consuming a drinker might be promising techniques to educate people. Also, people would possibly prevent themselves from consuming these.

“We do need to up the game in terms of raising awareness about these risks and about how much they are drinking”, said Dr. Daniel Poulter MP.
