In order to make sure that cancer patients do recover finely, CANmove has come forward to organize an exercise class. To be done by fitness instructors, the exercise class is by far the first such class meant for cancer patients in the UK.

As per Macmillan Cancer Support, as many as half of the cancer patients in Scotland are unaware of how they are going to recover after cancer treatment. Apparently, it is known that being physically active after the cancer treatment can do a lot good for patients, which turns physically weak after such strong treatment.

Even if Scottish Government guidelines are referred to, exercise of 150 minutes is being recommended for cancer patients so that they can deal with the side effects including muscle wasting, decreased mobility, depression and anxiety etc.

"It is crucial that health professionals encourage people living with cancer to stay physically active and Macmillan will continue to work with and support them to ensure that this happens”, said Elspeth Atkinson, Director of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The exercise class would be done across Glasgow. It has further been confirmed that the new exercise programme is extension of the Active ABC classes, which were kicked by Glasgow Sport and various breast cancer charities in October 2009.
