Recent reports suggest that Patientline was reported to have been under debt in 2008, liable to pay £90m. It has been reported that the company, which has been known since long and has been graded as the largest provider of television and telephones along the bedsides in NHS, was widely criticized after it started charging 49p/minute for incoming calls.
Later on, the possession of the company was taken by Hospedia. It has been reported that Hospedia was a newly-formed venture, which is run and owned by bank creditors, even Royal Bank of Scotland and HSBC are a part of it.
The company was thereby sold to Marlin Equity Partners two years later. Marlin Equity Partners are a Los Angeles based private equity company.
It has been unveiled that Hospedia has been running successfully since then, till date it has employed 450 UK residents and last year it made a turnover of £23m. At present, the enterprise has settled for a contract to buy Extramed.
Extramed, the Edinburgh-based firm, owned by Scottish investment firms Sigma Capital Group and Barwell, has been into service for the past eight years for providing bed management and till date has served 22 different hospitals. However, it has not been unveiled how much Hospedia is paying for Extramed.
