Daily Cup of Tea May Kill Bacteria behind Diarrhoea

A recent research unveils how daily cup of tea can shove off the risk of diarrhoea and other intestinal diseases. It has been claimed by a team from Cardiff University that tea has the require chemicals which can actually kill a lethal superbug behind the disease. The chemical, C. diff-clostridium difficile, was found to be too vulnerable to the chemicals found in tea.

For the research, the team managed to test 79 strains of the bacteria against 33 types of tea, which later proved that tea has the tendency of destroying the bacteria, which has the capacity of killing 3,000 people a year.

"We had done some preliminary work on standard breakfast tea and found that it kills bacteria. It evolved that clostridium difficile is also vulnerable to tea as it is a gut-based disease”, Professor Les Baillie, who has done a lot of work on the same issue since 2008.

Tea is among the most commonly drinks in the world and same goes for UK, where it is being consumed more than any other country. The team has fully realized the value of tea and would be putting extended efforts to prove the clinically effectiveness of a drink against C. diff.
