While there is hardly any doubt left that AIDS has become a contentious issue for countries around the world, the World Health Organisation's HIV/AIDS has expressed its take on the same. For the past three decades, there has been so much said and done to find some sort of cure for AIDS.
It has been made clear by World Health Organisation's HIV/Aids chief, Gottfried Hirnschall, research breakthroughs and progress in some countries "demonstrate that it is possible to really advance significantly in scaling up the response and even start to think about eliminating new infections”. He is going to attend International Aids Conference on July 22.
Though there are antiretroviral drugs which are said to be effective enough to at least reduce the risk of spreading the virus, there are issues involved in the same context too. So far, these medications have managed to save some 700 000 lives worldwide in 2010 alone, which is no less achievement.
The research work done so far has surely made it clear that there are fair chances of advancing in the field of AIDS medications, which in future might be able to resolve the crisis. With some 26 antiretroviral (ARV) drugs on the market, there are expectations that many more such drugs would come in the market.
