Shortage of Doctors Forces Urgent Changes in Emergency Department

Recent reports suggest that the NHS officials have called out for changes to be immediately brought to acute medical services. It has been reported that the health services are facing a major setback due to the shortage of doctors, hence they have declared to implement changes.

Detailed reports suggest that one of the three wards at Neath Port Talbot Hospital and also its Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) will be shifted to nearby hospitals. As many as 26 patients per day were taken care of at the ward, but now they will be looked after at other hospitals.

However, Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board has confirmed that the hospital will not be shut.

In a statement, the health board said, “The medical wards D and E, totaling 64 beds, will remain for patients returning to finish their care. The medical patient beds on Ward C will be shared”.

It has been recovered that the Ward C patients will be shifted either to Swansea’s Singleton Hospital or the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend. And in case of MAU beds, they will be transferred to Morriston hospital.

On the other hand, local politicians are worried about the changes, which will come into action by September.
