NHS Wales All Set To Incubate A GP IT Framework

In a recent report, it has been confirmed that NHS Wales would be adopting a GP IT framework agreement with two clinical system suppliers. This move was inspired from the fact that it would pull down the drive cost. It has further been confirmed by the government that they have managed to get technology firms Emis and Inps on board too which would be offering perhaps the best deal with effective services as expected under the GP clinical systems strategy.

As per the contract, the signed firms would have to provide- a practice software service; data-centre hardware and software; a drug database and utilities; and support, maintenance and training. It is believed that the multi-vendor framework would be able to escalate the level of services being provided by GPs to their patients. It is to be noted that this new project is much more than IT support and it would be providing a lot more to the patients.

"This new framework will enable e-referrals, where information is sent quickly, securely, and is clear and consistent. And it works the other way, too. Results can be emailed between consultant and general practitioner”, said minister for health and social services Lesley Griffiths, while asserting that this new agreement would prove out to be cost effective and simultaneously safe for patients too.
