A recent research has shed light on how a tiny ‘roller’ inserted in the spine would be able to provide relief from back pain. It has been claimed by a team from Brigham Young University in the U. S that the device has been developed keeping in mind the patients with damaged discs, which would get fair movement with the device.
“We welcome news of this new implant. Disc replacement allows a close approximation to the normal spine by allowing it to remain flexible, however new designs need adequate testing”, said Jane Tadman of Arthritis Research U. K. It has been further explained that there are fair chances of this device to come into the market in the coming three years.
It is believed that this device would be able to let spine move in different directions as Spinal discs would help support the vertebrae during movement. There are many who have faced the dire consequences of discs degeneration and that’s what has perhaps caught the attention of the research team. There are cures for sure like painkillers and physiotherapy, but it is believed that there is always scope of something better.
It would be worth seeing if large clinical trials would be able to provide some relief to patients reeling under severe back pain.
