Identical Twins Are Not Same

A recent research has questioned the popular belief that identical twins are not copy images of each other as previously thought. It has been claimed by a research that twins are born with unique chemical marks on their DNA, which influences activity of genes. It has been further made clear that there are fair chances of regulating the genes activity, which would be able how the DNA design would be utilized to develop a living organism.

“Although twins share a womb, the influence of specific tissues like the placenta and umbilical cord can be different for each fetus, and likely affects the epigenetic profile”, said Dr. Jeffrey Craig of the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) in Australia, who is senior author of the research.

The claim was based on the deep examination of epigenetic profiles in newborns. It is believed that whatever the difference is shown in epigenetic markers, it’s because of the fact that twins face varied life experiences and environment. It is for the first time any research has claimed that environment in the womb has a key role in instigating health problems in the life of twins.

Though a pregnant woman can make changes in her lifestyle, it is to be noted that there are certain factors which are beyond the control.
