Drinking Alcohol Moderately can Increase Dementia Risk

Drinking Alcohol Moderately can Increase Dementia Risk

According to a latest US research, even a drop of alcohol is not good for human health. Yes, if you are a moderate drinker, then don't just relax and continue with your routine of drinking, because even "moderate" amounts of alcohol can boost the risk of dementia in you.

Prior to this, in another research, it was discovered that during old age, one should consume some amounts of alcohol as it is good for mental health. But during an international conference, this research has been challenged.

This recent study clearly and strongly states that apart from heavy drinkers and bingers, all those people who stick to recommended limits of alcohol like 13-14 drinks a week, are also at a dementia risk. For conducting this study, around 1300 women were analyzed during the age of mid-60s and their health was tracked over for 20 years.

As a result, it was found that people having more alcohol were at a higher risk of contracting mild cognitive impairment to full blown dementia.

In addition, women who started drinking over the course of the study also showed an increase of risk for acquiring memory and brain related problems. This is something that can lead to future dementia in them.
