Recent reports suggest that after an investigation conducted by state health department, it has been recovered that a dental surgeon was reusing syringes and needles. Patients visiting the oral surgeon for intravenous medications were treated in this manner.
It has been unveiled that the former Colorado oral surgeon was deploying this method for the past 12 years. On the other hand, people visiting the surgeon have been warned and suggested to undergo HIV and hepatitis tests.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, released a statement on July 12, which said, “Any patient who received an IV injection, including sedation, from licensed dentist Dr. Stephen Stein between September
1999 and June 2011 might have been exposed to HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C”.
Further, it has been reported that even police officials from Denver are involved in the case. Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez asserted that they were informed of the case this year on April 3, since then police has been carrying out investigations of their part and case lodged against the oral surgeon has been on basis of prescription fraud.
It has been administered that Dr. Stein in September 2012, sold his practice to another oral surgeon Dr. Jeremey Miner.
