It has been found through a recent report that Channel 4 season has started In the UK and to celebrate the same, the season’s commissioning editor Lina Prestwood tied up Winston Churchill, former British Prime Minister’s statue with a straitjacket.
Not only him, but Florence Nightingale in Waterloo Place, Samuel Johnson in Lichfield and Charles Darwin in Shrewsbury have also been made to wear straitjackets, the report finds. The aim is to fight and raised awareness about mental health issues.
It is being said that the statue of Churchill in Parliament Square in London along with others’ are landmarks for Britons, whom the campaign wishes to encourage. As per the findings, these people were also sufferers of some or the other kind of a mental illness.
While the preparation for the promotion of the season dubbed '4 Goes Mad' has been started today i. e. July 19, it would actually launch on July 23.
The event is to hold a number of programmes such as World's Maddest Job Interview, Ruby Wax's Mad Confessions and Jon Richardson: A Little Bit OCD for ensuring it also has fun together with challenging the stigma over mental health.
"In 2012, it is no longer straitjackets holding people back - it is discrimination that is preventing people from fulfilling their potential”, says Lina.
