DA Lashes Out At Health Minister Over Dithering Health Services In Limpopo

It seems things are not going fine with a Limpopo hospital as it has been claimed by the Democratic Alliance that critical hospital equipment shortages in Limpopo are making things all the more complicated for patients.

Attacking the Health Minister Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, health spokesperson Patricia Kopane claimed that in case to understand the actual condition of health care services, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi needs to spend a day or two there as a patient or doctor. It’s only then he might be able to understand the severity of the crisis.

"We discovered that reports and whistle-blower information indicating that hospitals in Limpopo are experiencing widespread shortages of equipment were indeed the tip of an iceberg”, said Kopane, who along with Limpopo MPL Desiree van der Walt had made a visit to the Lebowakgomo Hospital in Chuenespoort and the Zebediela Hospital in Gompies on Thursday.

It has been since November last year that two X-ray film processors in the hospital are not working properly and X-ray machines are not repaired since 2009, thereby making it all the more clear that things are surely not fine there. It is due to the shortage of essential diagnostic equipment that no orthopaedic operations have taken place since last year. It would be worth seeing what future holds for the hospital.
