A New Discovery to Fight HIV

A New Discovery to Fight HIV

To serve the running fight against the dangerous HIV illness, the US regulators have given their approval to another daily pill, which they believe works efficiently in preventing HIV risks in unaffected adults.

With Monday’s approval to the pill, has come big news for all those unaffected adults, who are at risks of getting Aids. The medical officials have confirmed that people can use this pill with safe sex and regular testing.

The approved pill is Truvada, which is serving the markets since the year 2004. But with the recent approval to the manufacturer of Gilead Sciences in California, the pill has now win approval to serve a new use. The Food and Drug Administration has cleared that the pill can be used by healthy people to ward off all the risks associated with HIV in combination with safe sex and regular testing too.

Some of the AIDS experts are calling the pill as a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), which they say will serve immensely greatly in fight against human immunodeficiency virus but there are some other health care providers, who rather than seeing the benefits fear that the pill will encourage risky sex behaviors among people.

“Truvada as PrEP represents another effective, evidence-based approach that can be added to other prevention methods to help reduce the spread of HIV”, said Ms. Debra Birnkrant, Director of the division of antiviral products at the FDA.
