A study conducted by a team of researchers from Ancestry. co. uk, which is a family history website, has uncovered that the children in their teenage in Victoria most often tend to involve themselves in some or the other strange kind of a job during their holidays.
The team said that it is not a thing of the present, children below the age of 15 years did jobs that could be dangerous to their health or are bizarre in nature as per their ages since some 160 years back. The findings are based on evidence of eighteen million census records studied in the review.
Considering the data of England and Wales found in 1851, it has been affirmed by the team that however, the number of children under 14 engaged in some occupation has reduced from the 1850s, becoming 11% currently. But, their tendency to choose a job like assisting surgeons or becoming nurses and shoemakers continues.
As per the team, children mostly chose occupations like tailors or hat sellers and sometimes, were employed as plumbers, carpenters, cafe workers or even butchers. “It’s extraordinary how many Victorian families had children going out to work in order to help make enough money to get by”, said Miriam Silverman.
The menace of the life threatening virus, which is accused for killing a large number of wild lions in the African Serengeti in mid-1990s, is rising again. The outbreak have apparently supported the proposal of transferring the Asiatic lions from its only home in Gujarat to a new argumentative habitat in Madhya Pradesh.
