A group of study researchers seems to have got to know the reason as why men fall asleep after having sex. The topic has been discussed a lot, as women have been found to complaining that their partners fall asleep, immediately after witnessing orgasm.

The study researchers revealed that men’s brain is programmed in such a way that cerebral cortex switch off after sexual activity. Such kind of programming is not available among women, and they remain awake after having sex. This is the reason that they get frustrated, and often complaint about such habit of men.

There are two other parts of the brain, cingulate cortex and amygdale, which also switch off after the intercourse, and this leads to the deactivation of sexual desire among men.

Serge Stoleru, researcher involved in the study, said that men and women brain functioning is quite different. One of the differences is visible from this factor, as women do not have such a strong refractory period, as men have.

“These experiments give us the first hints as to what happens in the brain during orgasm. After men have an orgasm they usually experience a refractory period”, said Serge Stoleru, who is a neuroscientist and also leads the French medical research council Inserm.
