Altered Titan? Scientists Excited to Go Deep

In 2004, for the first time, few detailed images of Titan’s surface were sent back analyzing which, the scientist discovered an icy terrain, engraved over millions of years ago by rivers of liquid methane. Titan is known as the largest moon of Saturn and there seems to be a major alteration in its appearance.

However, the researchers at MIT and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville are analyzing these images, and according to them, it looks like if in some regions, there is little corrosion created by rivers. Well, there could be two possible reasons for this. First is that as a general process, erosion on Titan is a slow process and other could be the existence of a new phenomena due to which, certain aged riverbeds and landforms have been smeared out.

As told by geologist Taylor Perron of MIT, "It's a surface that should have eroded much more than what we're seeing, if the river networks have been active for a long time".

After noticing all the changes and actualities, for scientists this incidence has given rise to a number of interesting questions. They are quite excited to know that what exactly has been taking place on Titan since last billions of years.
