Australia Initiates ‘Let's Prevent Diabetes’ Programme

It seems that Australia has been suffering from myriad problems. Recently, Australian and state governments revealed that the country has been witnessing diabetes epidemic. More than 7,000 people lose their lives due to the same.

This is the reason that the Diabetes Queensland has initiated a programme known as Let's Prevent Diabetes. It is a prevention programme and is able to save $1.37 billion, which gets spend every year while treating diabetes patients.

Michelle Trute, who is the CEO of Diabetes Queensland, was of the view that diabetes is the world’s leading cause of death. If Australia has to be saved from its terror then there is only one way and that is to raise awareness of the same.

There's a startling disconnect between what people know about the risk factors associated with diabetes and what they are actually doing to protect themselves from a health standpoint”, said Dr. Peter Goldbach, who is the chief medical officer of Health Dialog.

He further affirmed that there is a need to raise awareness among people that even small things that they consume during the day can bring a lot of difference in their health, as well as in their status of diabetes.
