Number of Postmen report Injuries Due To Dog Bites; Owners Advised To Control th

Recent reports have revealed that dog owners are being advised to keep a control on their pets. It has been reported that last year a majority of postmen were injured due to the attack of dogs.

Statistical reports suggest that in total 21 postmen were administered to have been injured due to dog attack within a period of 1 year that is from last April to April this year, in Slough.

However, it has been confirmed that there has been a significant decline in the number of attacks by 7%. Still Royal Mail and Communication Workers Union (CWU) have complained that there have been an offensively high number of postmen being attacked and majority of them get injured during the summer break.

Dave Joyce, CWU national health and safety officer asserted that the matter was a serious one and could not be left unsolved.

Dave said, "Thousands of our members are bitten every year and hundreds suffer debilitating injuries every year which leave them with physical and psychological scarring, some with life-changing disabilities".

Moreover, it was highlighted that already £100,000 has been spent in order to protect the postmen from being injured. These include precautionary measures, like equipments for safe delivery of the post and also for safety of the postmen.
