A government funded advertisement will be aired from tonight suggesting the patients of cold and cough to not bother going to hospital’s emergency departments but see their GPs instead.
The advertisement is definitely a sincere effort to urge people not to show off their health but visit an emergency unit only in case they feel their health is very unwell because this could save many more from infections.
With time approaching of this advertisement’s airing, the state's peak medical group has started putting efforts to make the concept far clearer to all especially the elderly people, whom they are worried, could see an effect over their willingness to seek medical advice.
The announcements came from Australian Medical Association WA President Mr. Richard Choong, who while explaining the adv briefly said that the ad has asked the people with minute problems like colds and coughs should see their GP instead of attending hospital emergency departments as a "band aid solution."
He further added that the ad is no manner trying to deter people from going to hospital emergency departments but it is suggesting opting for same only if they think they are "very sick".
"I'm concerned with the elderly population, who traditionally do not want to feel like a burden to say- 'I don't want to go to hospital because I'll be a burden to society'," Dr. Choong said.
