When there is a waiting list of 82 patients at Steve Biko Academic Hospital to get a dialysis treatment then how come mortified former police Chief Jackie Selebi is receiving the same immediately?

As highlighted by Martin Kried, son-in-law of Suzette Janse van Rensburg who is suffering from severe renal failure, she was told by the hospital that there are 82 patients in the list before her, and despite of the fact that she has only one month to live, she cannot be treated now if an amount of R66 000 is not deposited with the hospital at the moment.

Her entire family was shocked to hear such a statement from a renowned hospital. Upon knowing the immediate treatment of Selebi, Kried said, "Why is he getting better treatment than my mother or anybody else in the same boat?"

Prior to Steve Biko hospital, Janse van Rensburg approached Charlotte Maxeke hospital too for her treatment but was returned home from there also, saying that there are 10 patients ahead on the waiting list. And her number could come only if some patient receives the kidney transplant and gets released by the hospital else someone stops breathing and gets automatically out from the queue.

In such a sensitive time, it was pretty sad and depressing for the family to wait and watch their dear Janse dying.
