Yoga Found Beneficial In Improving Balance of Stroke Survivors

Exercises and yoga have always been recommended by all health experts across the world to remain fit and away from major health ailments.

Findings in a recent study have revealed that yoga performed by stroke survivors can help them improve their balance. The study carried out at a small-scale, included the analysis of benefits of yoga on patients who survived chronic strokes. The survivors included suffered stroke almost six months past.

The study included 47 participants, out of which 75% were males. They were divided into three groups: the first group in which participants were called twice in week for yoga for continuous eight weeks, the second group, ‘yoga-plus’ group, in which the participants were called out twice in a week and were allowed to access relaxation recording for at least three times in a week, and third group, the participants were not performing yoga but were only medically assisted.

A registered yoga therapist was called out to teach the patients different postures of yoga, ways to relax and also meditation. With increment in number of weeks, the levels of yoga also increased.

The patients who attended the yoga classes were at more benefits, in comparison to those who were given medical attention. These patients were able to improve their balance and also motor function.
