Recent reports have revealed that Laos' Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (LNP+) has organized a campaign across the nation, in order to spread awareness about the disease and also to acknowledge people more about its treatment and help decline the number of people from being infected by the virus.
Kinoy Phongdeth, head of the (LNP+) and himself HIV positive, said, “There has been no such campaign in Laos. I contacted partners and organized groups to bring in medication and to offer support to other HIV positive individuals like me”.
Phongdeth affirmed that when he was informed that he had contracted the disease, it was as terrible time for him, he was not aware of what step he should take. Rather he even decided to commit suicide.
He exaggerated that in order to help others and let them not face the same situation, he thought of organizing the campaign
It has been reported that Phongdeth was the second person in Laos to be treated of his condition. He added that his own experience urged him to launch this information campaign, which will in-turn help others suffering from the same condition and also preventing others in developing the disease.
Moreover, the number of HIV positive cases is on a rise in Laos, but still they are less, in comparison to the other countries.
