A recent report has found that the quality of care being provided at care homes and residential home is on poor track. The report was prepared by the Local Government Ombudsman. It has been found that many complaints from residents are being filed by the residents.

As compared to previous years, there has been a rise of 22% in the number of complaints against the residential care. In the report, it has been highlighted that few of the complaints have not been yet addressed by the authorities.

The Local Government Ombudsman has advised the authorities to bring improvements in the care of elders. In most of the complaints, the patients and family members of patients have complained about poor quality of staffing.

Following financial difficulties, complaints against residential care has increased by manifolds. In the report, the Local Government Ombudsman said, “There has been increasing public concern about the quality of care services since we took on our new role, with a renewed need to provide the public with greater confidence and assurance in the quality of provision”.

The authors of the report has emphasized over the need of bringing down the number of complaints and of addressing in issues faced by the patients.
