An announcement made on Thursday by Health Minister Tanya Plibersek reveals a plan of millions of funding to researchers in Queensland for carrying out researches into a number of diseases as well as their causes, according to a recent report.
It has been found that the federal government is also highly concerned by the rising number of cases of varied fatal illnesses as health chiefs do. Also, lack of availability of medications or treatment strategies for some of these diseases has even raised those worries.
Thus, a decision to fund the Queensland Institute of Medical Research by a total of $42 million has been taken by the government. It is being said by Ms. Plibersek that nearly 17 studies to be conducted down the road would be benefitted by this huge funding.
The study at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital has already received a sum of $2.4 million out of the amount proposed. Besides, projects on the list include researches into breast cancer, oesophageal cancer and treatments for respiratory infections.
Health Minister has affirmed that there would also be project for finding ways to use blood for a trauma treatment and for children's food allergies. "I have long held a belief that Australia's innovative culture can be translated into real scientific and medical advancement, she added.
