The biggest and moreover one of the shocking accusations that have come recently is by the doctors who are claiming that a big number of women are being duped by none other than the world's biggest breast cancer charity official, Ms. Susan G. Komen, who is working for the Cure i. e. the largest breast-cancer advocacy group.
Experts are criticizing in their statements that the so-called public concerned officials are least bothering to inform women about the risks that are associated with the screening procedures in their public advertising campaigns and were seen overstating and overselling the benefits of X-ray checks like mammograms to increase the number of screening tests undertaken.
The above claims have been made by Mr. Steven Woloshin and Ms. Lisa Schwartz, Directors of the Center for Medicine and the Media at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire in a written statement that has been published in today’s edition of the British Medical Journal.
Both the experts have emphasized that the recent ads from Ms. Komen are referring to only the regular take-up of mammograms and no skipping to save the patients from harmful effects but there was no indication shown anywhere that frequently taking up the tests have associated risks too and that too dangerous. The criticism focuses to inspire the group to change their message.
