A team of researchers at the Leicester University has warned that a majority of GPs and doctors are failing to administer signs of drinking problems in patients until they turn up heavily drunk.
The study carried out the researchers, which has been recently published in British Journal of Psychiatry, has highlighted that majority of the medical staff is not aware that is patient is facing alcohol problems unless they are excited.
Dr. Alex J Mitchell, consultant at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and his team accomplished the study during which medical staff were asked to examine 20,000 patients to administer whether they are having alcohol problems or not.
It was claimed that majority of the staff found it difficult to acknowledge the problems in patients. Rather, in many of the cases people had highlighted their drinking habits.
Statistical reports suggest that in UK 33% of men and 16% of women are drinking heavily, which could ultimately be fatal or can have adverse effects on their health. One in six primary care patients either rely on alcohol or are suffering from alcohol use disorder.
It was emphasized that GPs were able to identify only 40% of such problems, in case of hospital doctors, they managed to identify 50% of problem drinkers and mental health specialists accounted for 55% of such cases.
Recently a team of researchers spotted an alien planet far away from its host star. According to their information, they have located a major gap between this planet forming debris disk and its host red dwarf star TW Hydrae. It is a surprising finding but has to be believed as they have found it using NASA's Hubble Space Telescope.
