“We will be very careful in documenting near-death experiences and other phenomena, trying to figure out if these offer plausible glimpses of an afterlife or are biologically induced illusions.”
Above are the statements of Mr. John Martin Fischer, the principal investigator of the Immortality Project, in a July 31 news release.
To bring it to the knowledge of all, the news is talking about the new “uncompromising scientifically rigorous” approach, which has been initiated by a professor of philosophy at the University of California, Riverside.
Mr. Fischer has started with the effort with the help of the three-year grant of $5 million that he has received from the John Templeton Foundation to research deeply over the beliefs and traditions and bring out the associated facts about afterlife and how does all these ideas are actually affecting the humans.
He explained that the approach focuses to get answers to questions like: Why are Americans only reporting about tunnel with a light at its other end in their near-death experiences? Or why are only Japanese individuals reporting about finding themselves tending a garden in such similar experiences?
He added that the findings will bring public closer to some of the complexities about the simple beliefs regarding heaven, hell and reincarnation.
