Ebola has emerged as a big crisis and tension in the region not only for the patients but also for professionals and even medical officers.
Listening confirmations from the health officials that at least 14 people have died in the region from Ebola fever, the tensions have rose far higher. The worst effect was seen over the patients, who just fled from the hospital in western Uganda, which was terrified by the news of deaths by a mysterious illness that was later found to be the Ebola fever i. e. one of the world's most virulent diseases.
Regarding the situation, Mr. Ignatius Besisira, an MP for Buyaga East County in the Kibaale district explained that initially, it was believed that the unexplained deaths were caused by the witchcraft but confirmations of Ebola terrified all.
"Immediately when there was confirmation that it was Ebola … patients ran out of Kagadi Hospital [where some of the victims had died]", he told the Guardian. "Even the medical officers are very, very frightened”.
The Ebola outbreak was soon confirmed by the government officials and a World Health Organization (WHO) representative during a news conference that was held in Kampala last Saturday.
The officials revealed that laboratory investigations were performed at the Uganda Virus Research Institute, which have confirmed that the strange disease is none other than the Ebola haemorrhagic fever.
