Photography chain Jessops’s former chief to replace HMV CEO

Trevor Moore, the former chief executive officer of photography chain Jessops, has been named as the new chief of beleaguered retailer HMV.

Trevor Moore will replace Simon Fox, who will leave the 90-year-old HMV on 3rd of September this year.

Fox said he was proud to leave the retailer with a profitable future. He added that the appointment of Moore as the new chief meant that the company would be in safe hands.

Speaking on his departure and Moore’s appointment, Fox said, “I am proud to be leaving HMV with a profitable future secured. The appointment of Trevor Moore means that I will be leaving the company in safe hands.”

Fox remained at the helm of the beleaguered retailer for six years. During his tenure, he slashed the company’s store estate and moved its focus to enhancing its online offering and selling more consumer technology.

Analysts are still bearish about HMV’s future due to the retailer’s insurmountable structural issues, and its heavy debt pile of £180 million.
