While it has been heard so many times that eggs are good for health, a recent research has certainly raised some doubts. It has been claimed by a team of Canadian researchers that eggs can have bad affect cardiovascular health of those who consume at least two eggs per week.
For the research, the team recruited 1,200 subjects with an average age of 61 and found that those who had consumed minimum two eggs in a single week, were more likely to develop a waxy substance, of carotid plaque, which can block the blood vessels, thereby affecting the heart.
With Britons eating eggs as much as 30 million a day, it has become all the more imperative that effects of eggs can be deciphered before it becomes too late. It has also been found by a team at the University of Alberta that as compared to what was found in eggs some 30 years ago, eggs of today are a lot healthier with 70% vitamin D and excessive amount of selenium.
Apparently, it has been claimed by Helen Bond, of the British Dietetic Association that after crossing the age of 40, carotid plaque rises anyway and it has nothing to do with eating eggs. There is dire need to clear the air over the same issue before consumers become fearful.
