Every time when one visits emergence wards of hospitals of England, one finds too much chaos as the waiting list of the patients is high. A think-tank has suggested that by improving the local or community based care services of the elders, about 3.4 million admissions to emergency wards can be prevented on annual basis.
Besides, the think-tank has also suggested that improvement in the community care can help NHS is saving £462 million. The suggestions were presented in a report, `Older People and Emergency Bed Use: Exploring Variation'. The author of the report, Candace Imison said, "Currently two-thirds of emergency bed admissions are for elderly people and our research suggests that we can significantly reduce these numbers".
The medical staff working at the communities should be trained in such a manner so that they could provide urgent care to the elders. Emergency wards are for the accident and fatal cases. However, it has been found that patients seeking usually treatment and without any emergency crowded the wards. The crowd at the ward leaves an adverse impact over the care of the patients brought at the wards after meeting with life threatening accidents.
