Toddler from Limpopo Recovers after Severe Burns

Pippie Kruger, who had suffered 80% burns at the age of merely three years, is now recovering from her condition after her successful surgery at the Netcare Rehabilitation Centre in Auckland Park, Johannesburg some time back, a recent report unveils.

As per the findings, she tended to catch fire on the New Year's Eve in 2011 at a braai. Though now she is showing signs of recovery as she visited her mother’s rented accommodation this Saturday afternoon. She had to undergo a cloned skin transplant along with many months of treatment to see this day.

The girl from Limpopo has also suffered several cardiac arrests in the last six months. One of the attacks has even left her to be paralyzed a little on her right side. The report finds that she remains in a good mood often and can now also move her head up.

Her new skin was taken from the United States and she is currently also receiving an extensive rehabilitation therapy at the Blessing Ward. Gentle massages are given to her on daily basis with a silicon-based cream that would help her prevent long-term scarring.

"She must be given a lot of stimulation. At this stage, if she stays in a hospital room all the time, she won't develop”, said Dr. Ridwan Mia, her plastic surgeon.
