It would not be the first time when it is has been mentioned that Earth’s natural resources are finishing at a fast pace. Recent addition to this category is groundwater, as a group of researchers from Canada and the Netherlands, has found that countries across the globe have been exploiting groundwater to such an extent that it would not get replenished at the same rate of consumption.
Researchers from McGill University and Utrecht University conducted a study in which they prepared a computer model to assess the level of groundwater. It was also being assessed that whether the level of water consumption matched replenishment level or not.
During the study, it was revealed that about 1.7 billion people in Asia lives near places, which are rich in groundwater resources. This is one of the reasons, which is letting groundwater level to reduce to an alarming level.
Main culprits responsible for depleting groundwater are the U. S., Mexico, Eastern Europe, India and China. Among the mentioned countries, India and the US are said to be consuming water level at much faster pace.
On the other hand, general population was of the view that if there is no rain then they have to choose such measures, so that they could cultivate the land.
