New Surfing Robot to Track Sharks

New Surfing Robot to Track Sharks

With the help of new discoveries, experts or marine scientists are keeping a regular track of sharks. The news is coming from the coast of California, where the marine scientists have started using a surfing robot to keep a regular track of all the great white sharks off the coast of California, US.

The newest surfing robots are basically the mobile transmitters, which have become the latest addition to the extensive program of electronic tagging too. Experts suggest that the new system has benefited the shark fans majorly as they are now able to follow all the animals' movements and that too very easily with their free app for smart phones and tablet computers.

The new discovery has come from shark expert Professor Barbara Block from Stanford University. She said that the area off the coast of San Francisco is a "blue Serengeti", which has its underwater highways just like the migratory routes in Africa.

She is also working on a 10-year program to track predators in the Pacific Ocean with the help of electronic tags attached to creatures like seabirds and turtles etc.

Prof Block said in her statement that "Across the planet the goal of oceanographers and biologists alike is to observe the ocean in as much detail as possible."
